BRAND PROFILE

DESIGNER’S BACKGROUND

An iconic name in the local fashion industry, TAN-GAN is best known as a designer label for knitwear for the confident, fashionable, and active female market of today. Founded and managed by Lulu Tan-Gan, TAN-GAN first established its manufacturing, exporting and retailing business in the Philippines in 1985. TAN-GAN continues to be the forerunner in marrying local and worldly aesthetics through knits, in turn faming her as the “Queen of Knits” of the Philippines.

In the early part of 2000, Lulu Tan-Gan extended into providing Design Services as Fashion Consultant to companies Collezione & Halston Garments. Lulu Tan-Gan assisted Collezione in the expansion of their brand portfolio. While working withCollezione, Lulu Tan-Gan extended the company’s target market by launching C2 a label targeted to a younger audience. C2 is now successfully retailing in different malls catering to a broad economic class, both local & foreign markets. With Halston Garments, Lulu Tan-Gan consulted by upgrading the technical needs of the company.

In 2007, TAN-GAN set out to offer a contemporary take on Filipino RTW luxury fashion at the “L MANILA” in Greenbelt 5, Makati City. Taking inspiration from Filipino costumes, art, and history rather than following the fashion dictates of the catwalk, TAN-GAN’s designs take on a global view that is modern and relevant to today’s lifestyle yet nostalgic of familiar materials and textures. Today, TAN-GAN continues to be felt as one of the country’s top designer brands as it embarks on new design journeys that elevate Filipino expertise and showcase the use of indigenous materials while still keeping the brand’s worldly design sophistication.

FASHION PHILOSOPHY
The TAN-GAN fashion philosophy boasts of worldly flair and techniques relevant for the global market and grounded by local indigenous materials and textures familiar to the Filipino. Specializing on knitwear, TAN-GAN continues to offer travel-friendly chic wear for jet-setters.  With simple, unhampered fluid designs, coupled with contemporary and functional silhouette, TAN-GAN embraces the active and abundant lifestyle with a forward-looking outlook in fashion.

This next phase of TAN-GAN broadens the world’s perspective of knits as Lulu merges this with a traditional Filipino textile, the piña, which she coined "Pinawear", creating even more luxurious clothing that highlight the contemporary design possibilities for both fabrics.
